Intimate Garden Wedding in Milwaukee
August 9th, 2024
Finding an intimate wedding venue in Milwaukee is a bit tricky, but in 2024 I was able to photograph a beautiful outdoor wedding for Meg & Jonny’s day at the Sanger House Gardens. Nestled within the Historic Brewer’s Hill neighborhood in Milwaukee lies this cozy and intimate home & garden perfect for a small wedding.
Sanger House Gardens offers a serene retreat with its lush and colorful garden landscape spanning two-thirds of an acre! The gardens boast over 400 plant varieties, including trees, shrubs, perennials, and tropicals, creating a vibrant tapestry of colors and textures and perfect for a couple looking for a garden vibe wedding. At the heart of the grounds is the charming Victorian-era Home perfect for getting ready for your wedding as well as a Carriage House that features another getting ready spot, a full kitchen, and an indoor/outdoor seating area.
I’m also on the hunt for a smaller, more intimate wedding venue in Milwaukee since I’ll be getting married in 2026 (eeek!) and had the opportunity to grab some pricing from the owner of Sanger House to help you out in your search as well.
The current hourly rate is $750/hour with a minimum of 3 hours, a $500 flat fee to rent the Victorian Home for 5 hours before your wedding starts (i.e. for getting ready, hair and makeup, etc.), and a $325/hour fee for setup and take down. If you’re looking at having a typical 8 hour wedding day with getting ready beforehand as well as 2 hours of extra setup time, the total cost for the venue would be $7,150. One bonus to booking here is they include multiple tables and chairs, wine glasses, speakers around the garden, and access to a full kitchen for caterer use in the Carriage House.

Being a wedding photographer in Milwaukee, I had no idea a venue like this was in our city! When Meg & Jonny reached out to me to photograph their wedding here, I was so excited. They planned an intimate wedding day with around 60 guests and later 30 more guests joined in to dance, eat desserts, and celebrate with them! Their entire day was filled with bright and bold colors that fit in with the garden flower colors perfectly, all things pool table related (Meg and Jonny first met playing pool at Scaffidi’s!), and had so much love buzzing in the air. To know Meg & Jonny is such an honor; I’ve never felt so welcomed into a group of friends and family before & had a wedding day experience I’ll never forget as a photographer.
