Humboldt Park in Chicago Engagement Session
August 6th, 2025
Earlier in August, I got to meet up with Kate & Liv again to photograph some impromptu “just married” slash engagement photos at Humboldt Park in Chicago! After we had tried figuring out a few different spots for this shoot, Liv had brought up this park and I said say less. I’ve never been here before so when I showed up at golden hour and everything was perfectly still and glowy, I knew we were about to have a great shoot.
We started off by the boathouse right in the heart of Humboldt Park, and then made our way around the pond that was filled to the brim with lily pads! Truly don’t think we could’ve gotten better weather with it being 85 degrees and glowy skies; there were a bunch of cicadas buzzing around though! After we walked through all the greenery and alongside the pond, we made our way to the Formal Garden just down the street to find some purple and white flowers, more greenery, and a cute building.
We were lucky enough to work alongside my florist friend Amanda (who crafted this gorgeous bouquet you’ll see in all of the photos) who’s the mastermind behind Flossy Floral! A true visionary when it comes to floral design - I couldn’t recommend her enough for anything weddings, intimate parties, or a celebration!
As the years have passed with myself being a wedding photographer, I’ve been challenging myself by doing ‘film only’ photo shoots. Really learning the ins and outs of my film cameras, how natural lighting works and how to utilize it best, and just being able to tell a story without seeing the photo 1 second after you take it! There’s something about film that requires so much patience, not only in waiting to see the photos you shot, but also in the learning process. It’s been a long journey but seeing my progress has made me so incredibly excited!
