Kitschy Camp Wedding at Camp Elsewhere
July 19th, 2025
When I think of Cat and Mitch, I think of creativity. Kitschy. Uniquely eclectic & wonderfully sweet. Intentional in every single way. So many details from their wedding day were little anecdotes into who they are individually, and also as a duo. From Mitch’s Old Style beer belt buckle to the colorful pennant flags in their dinner tent, all the way to Cat’s beautifully crafted flowers made by hand (!!!), this wedding was exuding love and intent.
Cat and Mitch hosted their wedding weekend at Camp Elsewhere; a relatively newer wedding venue and “glamp” ground in Waupaca, Wisconsin! I recently shared this venue in my ‘Unique Wisconsin Wedding Venues’ blog post and finally getting to photograph a wedding here was so special.
There was something that felt a wee bit magical and nostalgic about photographing Cat and Mitch’s wedding day here; the deep greens in the leaves and lily pads, the calm lakes on every side of the camp, the summer buggies flying around. Something about it made me feel like a kid at summer camp again!
We started off their morning capturing a few details throughout the camp and getting creative and colorful with their wedding attire & details —
Every moment of getting ready with Cat, Mitch and their friends & siblings was the most special. Cat with her sister and Mitch’s sister, and Mitch hanging out with Cat’s friends! The collision of both of their sides was so special to be apart of.
But it got even more sweet with Cat & Mitch’s first look! There’s something I absolutely love about a first look; getting to see your partner and having a moment to fully engulf in each other, gush over each others outfits, get those nervous jitters out, shed a few tears, all of it.
Chiming in a bit here to say as the day goes on, the more colorful it gets. The bright blue skies, the rich greens that Wisconsin has to offer, the flowers, UGH! All of it was truly such a dream to photograph. Also can we have a moment for Cat looking like a literal ANGEL standing on this hill?!
You’re probably curious about this hot dog pen; does it have any meaning? Funny enough, yes! Mitch just so happens to be the newly announced president of the Hot Dog Club for the Milwaukee Brewers and gave him this pen to sign their marriage license with!
Moving on to their ceremony; Mitch loves Hamm’s so they just had to have a few cans for their wedding ceremony guests! We had some rain trickle in during their ceremony, but every moment felt so magical.
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it a million more times; Cat & Mitch’s attention to intentional detail was so admirable. Cat handmade these flowers (shown below!) for guests to see as they enter their dinner tent, and the colorful pennant flags represent where they got engaged, Peru!
Shooting their wedding day partially on film really elevated the feel of it all. The richness you get from all the colors, the grain, capturing moments in time where you only get one shot to make it right. That’s one of the biggest beauties of film for me; knowing my film cameras inside and out & being confident I can snag quick shots, but also be slow and intentional when capturing quiet and still moments.
Portra 400 film, you really are that girl!!!

As it started getting darker, we all made our way into the main hall where Cat and Mitch cut into one of their 5 (yes, five) wedding cakes from The Baked Lab in Madison! After a few bites, they shared their first dance in the main hall of Camp Elsewhere surrounded by their friends and families and the taxidermy deer on the wall (lol).
As if their wedding couldn’t get any more sentimental and stylish, Cat and Mitch had the coolest outfit change to dance the night away with their friends and family. Cat, in a red flat brim stetson hat and a cream colored, flowy dress, and Mitch in a custom Western suit with white fringe, Lucchese boots and a big ole cowboy hat. Truly one of the most iconic outfit changes I’ve been able to photograph, love them.
If you made it this far, thank you bunches for taking the time to look through this wonderfully special wedding day for Cat and Mitch. It’s no secret that I love my job and I love everything Wisconsin has to offer (our nature is A+!). But one of the best parts about this career is finding people you love to work with. When you find people that have the same energy, focus and excitement for themselves, magic is bound to happen and this wedding was no exception.
Cat and Mitch, thank you endlessly for reminding me why I love to do what I do, in the way that I do; candidly, with my whole heart, and endless love.
